“Pictures at Eleven” is the debut solo album by former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant released in 1982. Genesis drummer Phil Collins played drums for six of the album’s eight songs. Ex-Rainbow drummer Cozy Powell handled drums on “Slow Dancer” and “Like I’ve Never Been Gone.” This is one of my favorite records from Robert due to it being released not long after his Led Zeppelin experience. The album’s writing and mix mildly reminds me of the latter recordings of Zeppelin. If one did not know better could possible think “Like I’ve Never Been Gone” was an outtake from “In Through The Out Door”. “Pictures at Eleven” interestingly is the only one of his solo albums to appear on Led Zeppelin’s record label Swan Song. If you find yourself needing to revisit this record my choice recommendation is to locate one of the earlier CD pressings from West Germany. You will find the mix bright and closest to the original vinyl mastering, the Digital and Streaming renditions are fantastic and fun too.
